We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Goods Not For Resale Procurement team at Greggs. 

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager for Capital Equipment, the successful candidate will support our 13 manufacturing and logistics sites with purchasing expertise for consumables, MRO, and other service contracts. 

This is a great opportunity for someone to develop a Purchasing career in fast moving, successful company and be part of a great team. The successful candidate will be able to negotiate and have strong interpersonal, communication and supplier management skills.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have purchasing experience in a multi-site business, ideally in the food manufacturing industry, however we would be interested to speak to people with similar experience in other industry sectors

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne. Ideally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area

What you'll do

  • Take responsibility for sourcing goods and services to support our engineering, logistics, and manufacturing teams
  • Extract and analyse SAP data to identify opportunities to drive value or consolidate supplier spends
  • Support project engineers and purchasing managers with the sourcing and implementation of new key spares
  • Review processes and standards to maintain customer focus and identify and implement best practice
  • Maintain good relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Source the market either via existing supplier relationships, utilising market knowledge within the team or using sourcing tools (e.g., Ariba)
  • Support the Purchasing Managers on larger projects as required

About you

You will fit right into this role if you can demonstrate:

  • Experience of negotiating better pricing, tender processes or driving value from supplier interactions.
  • Track record of delivering value and continuous improvement
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of, and the ability to multi-task and work with multiple priorities calmly and at pace, and using your own initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT skills including Microsoft 365; SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. SAP experience preferable but not essential
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Self-starter who is able to plan and organise their time effectively
  • Enjoy being part of a hard-working team, sharing the same end goal, and celebrating results together
