We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Workload Planning team as a Labour Forecast Analyst at Greggs on a 12-18 month fixed term contract. 

You’ll be a vital player in supporting our continued growth and success and making sure that our shop teams have the right forecast sales and labour to run their shops effectively.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered, on a 12-18 month fixed term contract
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Greggs Head Office in Longbenton, Newcastle 

What you'll do

As a Labour Forecast Analyst you’ll:


  • Utilise the WFM systems effectively to produce accurate sales & labour forecasts aligned to shop types / sales channels / day-part etc.
  • Constantly seek opportunities to improve forecast accuracy – focussing on day & location type - and align with other functions (finance / F&R)
  • Analyse and report on key performance metrics, including actual sales v forecast and earned hours v demand; compare to agreed targets and prior year performance
  • Select and manages appropriate forecasting algorithms
  • Test and reports on the value of AI forecasting methods
  • Monitor the accuracy of other key forecast volumes including customers, units, produced items etc.
  • Complete weekly / monthly reports as required for the wider business, including for the Retail Director and Head of Central Operations
  • Work alongside finance teams to understand the impact on shop wages and budgets, and highlight any risks / propose mitigating actions
  • Maintain the events calendar and lead cross functional sessions and meetings to inform of actions taken
  • Ensure that seasonal events are understood and configured, working with finance to provide effective guidance for retail teams to maximise profitability
  • Complete a thorough review / analysis of all significant events (e.g. Ramadan, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, School Holidays) post event to report on successes and capture any learnings 
  • Maintain parameters and configuration settings within the system
  • Create and manage MI and reports for retail and other functional teams
  • Manage and improves key operational processes including trading times and forecast amends

About you

You will fit right into this role if you have:

  • Great influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships with  a wide range of stakeholders
  • An aptitude for understanding and using IT systems
  • An inquisitive mind, always looking to overcome problems and improve the status quo
  • Experience of working with WFM systems and / or other forecast and planning tools
  • A background in finance or mathematics, with an understanding of forecasting techniques
  • An understanding of labour measurement techniques and labour models
  • An understanding of retail operations
