Retail Forecast and Replenishment Analyst

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Forecast & Replenishment Team at Greggs.

Within this role you will be an expert on the current F&R system and work on various projects covering system upgrades, weather analytics, continuously improving forecast accuracy, carrying out analysis and supporting the team with system and forecast issues.  

Working alongside IT Support functions, Finance and Retail, the role will maximise availability, minimise stales and waste, and ensure all key events are planned and executed effectively.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday
  • As this role supports our retail operation there is a rare requirement to work some weekends and bank holidays

  • The base location for this role is Newcastle upon Tyne. Ideally you'll live within one hour travel of this location.

What you'll do

  • Evaluate and validate large datasets so that the sales forecast by product by shop by day is in line with expectations, analysing trends and proactively managing forecasts to enhance accuracy to improve availability and reduce waste.
  • Produce daily, weekly and period reports to the forecasting team and other key stakeholders, including developing new and existing reports which are currently managed through Python scripts.
  • Carry out varied detailed analysis to support initiatives such as school holidays, seasonal events, weather, pay day, product classifications and other ad hoc pieces of analysis. This includes developing new and existing Python scripts to support with event planning. Ability to translate the analysis into varied actions in SAP using mass upload tools
  • Plan football match event impacts across the country, with the aim of developing this further with automation of other events (rugby matches, concerts, etc) to support retail in ensuring maximum availability for repetitive impactful events
  • Manage and maintain shop segmentation to aid forecast accuracy, including managing the transition of university term dates and how this impacts nearby shops
  • Be a system expert user of SAP SCM, and the new SAP4HANA system, to ensure that the system is producing the most accurate forecasts. Understanding system settings and levers such as service levels, forecast profiles, referencing and demand influencing factors so that the most relevant settings are applied
  • Work with SAP system consultants to develop system functionality in line with business requirements including documentation and training of colleagues
  • Support in transitioning between systems from SAP SCM to SAP4HANA/CAR, including testing all elements of F&R to ensure a smooth transition
  • Supporting and training colleagues in utilising SAP F&R and the new SAP4HANA system
  • Be a system expert user of business reporting tools such as Business Objects, SAP and Power BI
  • Work cross functionally with Category, IT, Franchise, Labour Planning, Retail, Finance and Supply Chain teams 
  • Support the Retail Forecast Analyst Manager

About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Are a highly numerate graduate with a strong analytical background, ideally a degree with an element of mathematics/statistics or computer programming
  • Have experience of data manipulation in Python
  • Are a logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills and an analytical mindset, with  experience of analysing information and issues to identify current and potential problems and develop and implement workable solutions
  • Have strong PC skills and an ability to interrogate large data sets using Excel and Python, with an ability to communicate and apply complex data in a simple, easily understood manner
  • Are results focussed with strong planning and organisation skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously within challenging deadlines
  • Can build good working relationships to work cross-functionally within Greggs
  • Are a confident individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to influence at all levels whilst maintaining a strong customer focus
