We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Supplier Technologist team at Greggs where you’ll play a key role in managing and approving our third-party food suppliers.
As a key member of the team, you’ll be responsible for the approval, monitoring and management of suppliers providing food products and ingredients, as well as storage and distribution sites. Your work will ensure that food safety and legal standards are consistently upheld.
In this role, you’ll help protect our customers and our brand by promoting a strong food safety culture throughout the third-party supply chain.

About the role
- This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
- We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
- The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne and requires frequent travel between our supplier sites. Applications from outside of the North East may be considered
What you'll do
- Maintain and utilise performance KPI reporting and RAG rating to drive continual improvement with the 3rd party supply base
- Complete supplier audits (based on risk assessment) in line with Greggs manufacturing standard and other appropriate Greggs standards
- Proactively engage with the Commercial teams to support the development of finished products and selection of new suppliers by ensuring new supplier processes are in place
- Ensure internal systems are maintained to ensure compliance to the Greggs requirements for 3rd party suppliers as well as BRCGS standard for food safety and/or storage and distribution standard
- Lead liaisons on food safety and related incidents that occur with the 3rd party supply chain specific to your area of responsibility whilst ensuring strong communication and escalation to senior teams, as appropriate
About you
You will fit right into this role if you:
- Food science (or similar) degree or equivalent
- Lead auditor trained, Level 4 Food hygiene trained and HACCP level 3 trained
- Experience managing food safety audit programmes
- Experience managing food safety, integrity and legality of food products and/or understanding of processes and risks associated with – ingredient and product ranges relevant to Greggs.
- Risk assessement, prioritisation and decision making skills
- Proven experience of leadership, decision making and report writing
- A result focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
