Our brand-new manufacturing and logistics site, situated at SmartParc, will offer a fresh and innovative environment, and we're looking for enthusiastic and passionate colleagues to help lay the foundation for something truly great.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the team in Derby as Warehouse Manager. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this is a key Leadership role on site, as such it will be one of the first. 

Your initial focus will be a journey of discovery. Working alongside our automation providers and inhouse systems team to develop the knowledge of how the site is to operate. Secondly, you will recruit your wider team who will start the journey of opening up our new purpose built frozen facility in early 2026. 

This initiative is a key part of our growth strategy, aimed at expanding our supply chain to meet the needs of our growing number of shops across the UK.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Derby Smartparc, DE21 7BS Ideally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area

What you'll do

  • Take an Instrumental role recruiting the operational Warehouse team
  • Liaise with our automation partners to navigate the site through commissioning through to being a fully operational facility
  • Embed the Greggs culture, this is key to your, and our, future success
  • Ensure customer service is at the heart of the logistics operation with regular reviews and recommendations for action to improve customer satisfaction
  • Create a culture where safety, quality and compliance are embedded in daily life
  • Achieve budget within the function and ensure key cost control areas are kept in line
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures
  • Carry out PDR’s with direct reports, agreeing targets and objectives, conducting monthly 1 to 1’s and agreeing individual development plans
  • Lead a team in line with the values, with high visibility through regular meetings and coaching, promoting a culture of achievement and responsibility.

About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Are a strong team player, able to build good working relationships at all levels
  • Can demonstrate a proven ability to provide excellence in customer service
  • Have experience of, and the ability to multi-task and work with multiple priorities calmly and at pace
  • Are results focused with strong planning, prioritising and organisation skills
  • Have advanced IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Are self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and using own initiative
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of analysing information and issues to identify current and potential problems and develop and implement workable solutions
  • A good communicator, able to operate at all levels clearly and concisely with the proven ability to communicate complex data terminology so it is understood by the data owner and the business
  • Are supportive of an inclusive culture – recognising and valuing that difference is good
  • You have experience of SAP / MRP in a warehouse environment (desirable)
  • You have experience of an automated Warehouse (desirable)
  • You have experience in a start-up project (desirable)
