In this role, you will take charge of nurturing and growing a team of data engineers, guiding them in developing scalable data solutions and architectures using the Microsoft Azure Data Platform.
Your expertise in data engineering will be instrumental in designing and implementing robust data pipelines, ensuring the reliable collection, storage, and analysis of data from various sources. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organisation, translating business requirements into technical solutions that empower data-driven decision-making.

About the role
- This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

What you'll do
Reporting to the BI Product Development Manager the role will be responsible for leading Greggs Data Platform Team, delivering and supporting the new Azure data platform in support of the BI strategy and striving for a quality service delivery.
Lead and manage the BI Data Platform Team ensuring that the prioritised backlog items are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Ensure the BI Data Platform is appropriately involved in the Greggs Strategy Project in terms of deliverables and building of team awareness and capability in readiness for change.
BI architectural oversight as part of the cross-department virtual architecture team.
BI evangelist, proactively supporting the BIPDM in the mission to help colleagues across Greggs get the best out of actionable insights.
Involved in existing BAU projects and new projects acting as a technical lead for the Data Platform Team.
Understand the vision of the business and translating that vision into understandable requirements for the development teams.
Act as linchpin, brining technical teams together to deliver solutions which support the BI Strategy.
Analyse data sources to identify key trends and opportunities for improvement ensuring a focus on best practise, efficiency and scalability.
Supporting business adoption of Reporting tools through initiatives such as improving the performance of the data platform and leveraging full capabilities of the tools.
Managing existing Service Agreements with 3rd Parties to ensure SLA's are being met and proactively identifying gaps and turning them into implementable solutions.
Drive agile ways of working to ensure continuous progress and iteration.
Subject matter expert for your area in both internally and with key partners.
Act as mentor & guide to the members of the team, setting the example not only in in work ethic, but also in delivering world-class solutions.
Working closely with the BI Product Development Manager to continuously improve the delivery pipeline.

You will fit right into this role if you have:
Strong understanding of BI concepts and tools.
Proven track record of working with Azure Data Platform and toolset, such as Data Bricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, Event Hub, SQL and Analysis Services.
Experience in Data Warehousing solutions.
Experience in Data Modelling tools and techniques.
Awareness and use of source control and release management technologies such as Azure DevOps.
Significant experience in data conversions and master data management experience defining, testing and troubleshooting.
Excellent business-facing skills, with experience in requirements-gathering and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Experience of working in dynamic business environments, and managing delivery of multiple initiatives.
The ability to self-start with a proactive approach to daily tasks, overcoming problems and maintaining momentum.
Ability to work closely with stakeholders and other teams around the business.
Experience of working in or knowledge of food-to-go or similar retail business environment.
