About the role
- This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) however flexibility in this will be considered
- We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
- The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne. Ideally you'll live within one hours travel of this location.
What you'll do
This new role will support our product development team to deliver our category plans which will include:
- Arranging benchmarking panels, newness and market reviews and keeping documentation and reports up to date
- Ordering new raw materials and reviewing new ingredient specifications against Greggs policies
- Generating nutritional information and reviewing against policies and claims
- Make up of samples for review by internal teams for tasting and assessment reviews including shelf life testing
- Support the organisation and running of internal and external sensory panels
- Assist and coordinate retail industrialisation sessions
- Generate and validate cooking and make up instructions
- Support product launches through visiting shops and coordinating feedback across the FZ & PLM team
- Support the agreed quality plan and the review and updating of QAS documents.
- Work collaboratively across multiple functions, within head office and across the business and with external stakeholders, suppliers and customers and take responsibility for personal development
- Support other business projects and working groups to continually grow and improve the Greggs business and ways of working.
About you
You will fit right into this role if you can demonstrate that you have:
- A food based degree
- Food preparation, sensory & organoleptic skills gained in a working environment. You will have a great palate and a real passion for food.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in food retailing or food manufacturing in a product development or quality based role.
- Organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good written and numeracy skills. A confident communicator.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work at pace, juggle and prioritise accountabilities and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- IT skills including Microsoft 365; SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
- You are self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and using own initiative
- Enjoy being part of a hard-working team, sharing the same end goal, and celebrating results together
