We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Retail Technology Team at Greggs as a Retail Technology Product Owner - Innovation, focusing on future innovations, as we continue to use technology to make our in-shop operations simple and more efficient for colleagues.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Greggs House, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 8BU. Ideally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area

What you'll do

  • Lead the development and execution of an experimentation strategy for the Retail Technology Product Team,  focusing on testing hypotheses and product features that aim to drive simplification of processes in-shop and improve efficiency
  • Own the innovation backlog and roadmap ensuring a healthy flow of work into the Innovation development team, prioritising experiments and proof of concepts based on their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with business objectives
  • Work cross functionally with key business stakeholders, delivery leads, engineers and UX designers to deliver proof of concepts and initiatives to allow the business to test and learn
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, demonstrations, and retrospectives as needed
  • Set sprints goals and define what upcoming development sprints will entail ensuring there is a constant stream of refined work items for the team
  • Analyse data from proof of concepts and trials to provide actionable insights, making recommendations on product iterations and business cases for full scale rollouts
  • Communicate results, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in for a ‘test and learn’ approach
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in experimentation, product development, and data analytics to ensure we are using best practices and cutting-edge methodologies

About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Have experience of working in a Product Owner/product focussed role
  • Can create clear, concise and testable user stories and acceptance criteria that ensure the development team fully understands the requirements, enabling them to deliver features that meet business expectations
  • Are highly experienced and comfortable in working cross functionally, facilitating, and collaborating with multiple stakeholder groups to reach consensus on the scope of product features and their priorities
  • Have excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the capacity to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organisation
  • Can demonstrate an ability to represent the voice of our users whilst balancing the commercial needs of the business and its various stakeholders
  • Have experience in owning the end-to-end feature delivery workstreams
  • Possess a data-led technical mindset that is comfortable working with different types of data
  • Enjoy being part of a hard-working team, sharing the same end goal, and celebrating results together
  • Are supportive of an inclusive culture – recognising and valuing that difference is good
  • Have advanced IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Have experience in workflow management tools such as Azure DevOps (desirable)
  • Have knowledge or experience of Retail operations (desirable)
