We are a team of bright, creative, talented people who are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join our team. The Senior BI Analyst is a key member in our BI leadership team. The role is business focussed so you will not only get to work on the cutting edge of technology in our Azure and Power BI stack but you will get to know and understand Greggs ‘under the covers’.
This is a permanent, full time position based at Greggs House / Innovate House in Newcastle upon Tyne.

About the role
- This is a permanent, full time role

What you'll do
Reporting to the BI Service Lead, the role will be responsible for delivering and supporting data models and insights using the Power BI toolset, championing the BI strategy throughout Greggs and striving for a quality service delivery.

Leading, developing and mentoring a team of BI Analysts

Working closely with business leaders, analysing the business insights needs, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI

Designing and leading business and technical workshops to drive out insight requirements

Keeping abreast of insight trends in our market, future BI trends and technology changes (such as Power BI roadmaps), feeding in to the wider Greggs BI roadmap

Translating business requirements to technical designs including data modelling solutions, working closely with the data platform engineers, testers, architects and MDM

Designing and delivering training sessions across the business to support the effective role out of Power BI
-
Designing effective layouts using themes and report grids, working closely with our UX Designers and standards

Utilizing the navigation features in Power BI (e.g. bookmarks, drill-throughs) to guide users through a compelling data-driven story
-
Working with the testing team to manage the processes around SIT and UAT, resolving any defects identified
-
Publishing reports via the Power BI service, managing them through distribution of apps and monitoring usage/data refreshes/security access

Essential Skills:
-
Experience of mentoring and developing people
-
3 + years working in Power BI and other visualisation tools
-
3 + years experience of designing conceptual and logical data models
-
Proficient in DAX calculations
-
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
-
Ability to take business customer requirements, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI
-
Confident communicating with stakeholders of all levels including the ability to advise, train and support our business customers where necessary
-
Experience of working in dynamic business environments, and managing delivery of multiple initiatives
-
The ability to self-start with a proactive approach to daily tasks, overcoming problems and maintaining momentum

Microsoft certification desired

Microsoft Azure DevOps experience desired

Tabular Editor experience desired
