We are seeking a Senior Platform and Infrastructure Specialist to lead technically in delivering an outstanding service to our shops within our Retail Connectivity products, by transforming connectivity into a high performance, flexible and automated product offering to our retail colleagues.

About the role

  • This is a full-time based role based at Greggs Innovate House, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 8EW

The product you will be driving forward technically will strategically enable our entire retail estate of 2500 shops (and growing!) to help millions of customers to engage with Greggs via digital channels in a frictionless way every day.

You will care about defining and delivering an outstanding service to everyone using our Retail Connectivity products, by ensuring forward facing technology approaches are used to drive scalability, security, automation and resilience into our delivery, while also sharing your knowledge with others to ensure continual improvement of the broader product team. 

About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Are passionate about using technology to best achieve business objectives and improve services, and be able to advocate for IaC and CI/CD approaches to drive this forward 

  • Have significant experience of managing large scale WAN networks across a large number of locations, including service provider management and engagement 

  • Can demonstrate extensive experience of networking technologies and approaches, including firewalls, VPN, WAN technologies, and VLSM 

  • Are an advocate for continually improving our security posture, and proactively seek out opportunities to improve this 

  • Have strong working knowledge of telephony systems, in particular SIP telephony 

  • Have strong knowledge of cloud platforms and services, especially networking services 

  • Have a proactive can-do attitude and will enjoy contributing towards an adaptive, fun and creative environment 

  • Have experience of building trust and highly effective working relationships with a diverse range of technical and none technical stakeholders at all levels of the organisation 

  • Have experience of developing and leading a team, either via direct line management or cross team leadership, and demonstrating technical leadership and contribution to strategic direction 

 

It would be advantageous if you had any of the following: 

  • Experience of working in a large retail environment 

  • Experience of IaC technologies, such as Ansible and Terraform 

  • Experience working with Meraki networking equipment, in particular Meraki MX Gateways 

  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
