We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Projects Engineer to join the Greggs Supply Chain team.  We're looking for someone who is up for a challenge and who really wants to make their mark during this exciting period of growth within Greggs!

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is 
  • ideally Midlands based, however, the role will include travel to various sites and may require some working away from home mid week

What you'll do

  • Using project scope/brief, work with Lead Project Manager and Project team members, site team, steering team and architect to develop concept design drawings (RIBA stages 0, 1 and 2) based on latest Greggs building specifications
  • Initiate and progress site utilities, working with the Greggs sustainability engineer as required ensuring alignment of scope with Greggs pledge commitments. (The Greggs Pledge)
  • Obtain preliminary cost estimate and draft overall project timescale, working with independent QS, based on above information.
  • Support PMs in obtaining approval from Steering team, Operations Board and Main Board for building, utility and equipment CEFs
  • Progress quotes from main contractors and feedback these and latest timetable/Gantt chart to Lead PM and update Steering Team/Ops Board/Main Board for approval
  • Provide technical support to Greggs central engineering team in the Appointment of main contractors and development of scope of works (URS)
  • Provide technical support and input into the ongoing development of Greggs pledge sustainability strategy working closely with the Greggs sustainability engineer.

  • Manage utilities/equipment design, procurement and installation where appropriate.
  • Progress snags and ensure building is handed over on time and on budget
  • Carry out post- occupancy evaluation, review project/building performance, progress as constructed information and 12 month defects (RIBA stage 7)
  • Support ongoing development and review of the Greggs Building Specifications document including incorporation of environmental / sustainability initiatives to support delivery of Greggs Pledge

 

About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Experience of construction projects from concept through to design, build and post project assessment, Ideally gained within food or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management skills, inc use of relevant software, eg Microsoft project.
  • The ability to work with colleagues at all levels within Greggs, public bodies, contractors and third parties.
  • Good communication skills: Clear, precise, good listener.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Membership of relevant institute, i.e., Institute of Project Management, IMechE or Civil Engineering Institute
  • The desire to be supportive of an inclusive culture – recognising and valuing that difference is good.
